The negative effect of internet darkness on Africa, increased our level of poverty. Like me, I pay N250 as at then, to stay, all night at the cyber café - sacrificing my natural right to sleep - what can I do? The worst of it was the slowness of the internet access to the web. In the 6 hours [a night charge], one paid for, you only get 3 hours out of it.
Slow Connection And Access.
You have typed "Yahoo" in the address page, you wait for 30 minutes or hours for the page to
open, you keep hitting your mouse, thinking that - it is the cause. But the managers knew their connection is poor - cheap equipments. They just want to collect our money - to enrich themselves more.
Common people like me, will wait patiently for the networks to come up. The first time I went to a cyber, I wanted to open an email - Yahoo. Hahaha! It took me two days to sign up and that was N500, as at that time - With a 20million Naira worth of my night's sleep - huh! "Not thinking about that now." But the most things I regret was the way the Yahoo treated me and Africa. As at that time, the other means to access or surf the web - for information was through a mobile phone - if one can afford it.
Mobile Operator Got Richer With Us.
Even at that, your mobile operators will be siphoning you - to get rich. At a time again, the Yahoo: which everybody was made to know, stopped our mobile access to mails. When you log in, the responds will be that - the username and password you [copied down, so as not to forget it] - is incorrect. Others may be making a mistake but I knew that, I was very correct.
With these my observations, I knew that these people will soon stop things or… and I was thinking about what next to do…

Another thing that happened, during the "Yahoo" days, was the information. Those who were successful in their attempts, was exposed to information that's not filtered and processed. The information, we are exposed to or given, when we make a search with yahoo was full of irrelevances.
At my several attempts, I got one mail account - which was putting my thinking into...much. This was because, I have given "many" the mail address. So, much of my time was dedicated to thinking like this: "very soon, this my mail box will one day, when I need it, fail. All these thoughts of mine, would have come true, if not at the arrival of Africa's savior called - Google-Africa.

If google was here in those days, as I know what to write but the platform to publish was the problem: things would have been better. In the past, there may be ways to publish, but for what I know, you can publish: a book, "voluminous" once, by paying big money to the media publishers [because that is where the return will come] - Nobody listens to you, when you have short info.
Like now, One may have a few words of based information to pass across, it can be published on the web, with the help of Google's Blogger or site. When this information is on the web, one can search with google and get the exact kind of thing, the person need: void of irrelevance - not like before. Like you type one thing and another different thing come out - what we experienced in the past. Google has aided the usefulness of the web with so many different products - with equal qualities.

EMAIL: Google made everything easy and simple, by this, I mean, when users from Africa signs up for an email with google, google will know that this person is coming from Africa, they will give you an easy way to complete your sign up process. Blogger: For a continent like Africa, google knew, they are developing so they want to help up coming writers like me and others to show what we can do, a place to publish our few or many information was provided - Blogger. I have seen some people using google publishing platform, blogger to form or manage: news magazines - becoming internet publisher CEO’s. Creativities are on the high - with the presence of google and on the web.
Google Plus: A simple but effective means of communicating short or vast information to the people you know or may know. In the dark days of Africa, circles of like minded people are only made for the big heads. But today everyone can create his or her circles of people he knows and include those he wishes and can communicate with them. It was on a circle that I had about this competition or whatever it is called.
Google Adsense: Google has given everybody in Africa, a change to joint the whole world in whatever they are doing. Adsense: as the name implies [Ad Sense]. Google said "Africans, if you have creativities in you, share it with the whole word and in return you can make money from it, if you know how to use adsense - that is: show some relevant ads on your published things and if any valid clicks are made you earn.
Google Site: If you, the reader knows how much dollar or African money you will spend to buy a functional site running on the web, you'll know how far google helped with their free site. A beginner can start with google free site loaded with high quality and powerful templates, and can advance to site developer API. But anyone who knows how, can make everything with the google site.
Yes, Google has played a vital role developing us Africans, in the area of internet and the web - if the world thinks that we are still not developed, it may be in other areas - For internet and web, we covered it, with the help of google. The only thing now is the future of Google to Africa. We have been exposed, with too many goodies from google. We are now addicted to google and the web, many of our information and data are stocked or stored in google...
Drive: million of information and data, from African can now be found on drive. Google knows too well: that Africans do too much of whatever they started doing. Though we may be slow at the start, but spread too wide. So will there be a time, when google will hate "Africa" because of how their products are being used and resolves to what [the] then yahoo did.
